Jason and AT6 were incredible to work with! We’ve remodeled 7 homes in our lifetime, and AT6 was by far the best experience we had! They took great care in transforming our home, which has been in our family for over 60 years, to one with modern features while keeping its historical character. When our next-door neighbor’s massive trees collapsed on our 1930s house one stormy afternoon in 2023, we were abruptly evicted from our dream home which sustained severe structural and water damage. In 2018 AT6 Design-Build remodeled our home; we were very pleased with Jason and his team for making it so much more functional and attractive. After the house being just the way we wanted it, we thought we were finished with construction, but unfortunately that only turned out to be a short-lived reality. On the day of the 2023 storm, the second phone call I placed (after first filing the insurance claim) was to Jason who expressed willingness to help us rebuild.
Over the subsequent months, AT6 architects produced floor plans, obtained the building permit (a one-day process!), assisted us in selecting interior finishes (e.g., bathroom tiles, fixtures, paint), and more. After construction mobilization, the lead architect worked hand-in-hand with AT6’s construction superintendent who was onsite daily to supervise and guide a parade of their preferred subcontractor as they performed demolition, framing, roofing, finishes, flooring, painting, and revamped mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Most notable, aside from their subcontractors’ high level of workmanship, was how AT6 orchestrated this succession of subs who showed up each day on time. As one sub finished, they were followed by another, such that there wasn’t an idle day that went by. The completion of major phases of work were followed by well-timed building inspections that passed smoothly.
In addition to our delight that the reconstruction was completed in record time, the AT6 team was truly a pleasure to work with. They distinguish themselves by being personable, caring, responsive, reliable, creative, efficient, and honest. The few changes in personnel along the way were marked by a seamless handoff, maintaining the same level of quality and service. We are extremely thankful to AT6 for being supportive and compassionate, and for helping us through a most disruptive episode in our lives and making the house our home again.
I’m 66 and over the years I’ve worked with a variety of very good architects on various residential & commercial projects. Jason is terrific to work with. He has wonderful design sensibilities and is creative. He also has construction experience as a contractor, so he has a real understanding of the nitty gritty that gets projects built cost effectively. His construction experience also yields well-detailed plans & specs that can be readily be bid by contractors. Our project with him was in San Francisco, and there was a real question whether we could get it approved at all. Jason had excellent judgment on how to design and present it so that the City would go along, and his knowledge of the Dept of Building Inspection got us through the process crisply and efficiently. Other architects we interviewed had predicted a much more difficult time than we experienced with Jason. Highest recommendation.
I hired Jason/AT6 to help me design and build my dream home on a plot of land that I found in Mill Valley. From the beginning, he helped me evaluate whether the land purchase made sense by visualizing the possibilities. I had hired Jason before as an architect for a previous remodel -- so I knew he was an amazing designer -- but once we started on this project, I discovered he was an equally talented builder.
The entire AT6 team was extremely organized. They were not easily ruffled and were true problem-solvers. I appreciated that they would bring me decisions to make and always have multiple options. I was a very busy executive during this process, so having them keep me on track was essential. Working with them always felt like a partnership.
I was also surprised that, despite making a lot of modifications as I went, they completely nailed the budget. We were within 5% of original budget on a multi-million-dollar build. It’s hard to imagine there wouldn’t be something really hard or unanticipated to overcome in a project of this size, but it was incredibly smooth. Also, they delivered my home right on schedule! That just seems exceptional these days.
I'm now a big believer in the design/build process. I was skeptical at first, but I found it to be significantly more efficient and an ultimately faster way to go. When you get into the build phase, new details emerge that were not obvious when the design was just on paper. Having the architect be the same as the builder makes the inevitable modifications so much easier. There are not multiple parties to coordinate on changes, and the process is less expensive and time-consuming as a result. Also, AT6 designs with a builder’s mindset, so things are not unnecessarily complicated or costly to execute.
They were able to create beautiful, high-end details that are designed for high utility and look more expensive than they are. They are practical without cutting corners, and design for beauty and function. Everyone who has visited my home is in awe, and it still feels to me like an incredible oasis every day. I am so happy with all the decisions we made, and wouldn't change a thing.
Finally, and this is a true test for me, they have been responsive long after the house was finished. Whenever I've had a question or something needed to be adjusted, they have made themselves available. They really have been partners for the long haul and I highly, highly recommend them!
We switched to AT6 in the middle of a new house construction project, as we had persistent problems with our prior architects. Jason thoughtfully and delicately maneuvered the situation by working within the framework given by the existing design, but contributing new angles and direction wherever it was appropriate. The interaction between Jason and our contractor was seamless. Jason’s dual experience as a builder makes him very qualified to solve challenging issues. He never shied away from technical details that the construction crew requested and played an essential role in making our project progress without major hiccups. Jason always had interesting viewpoints to contribute and had suggestions and solutions that we hadn’t thought of before. We would highly recommend him as an architect.
We met with them with a list of dreams for our new space. It was to be a full flat with bathrooms, kitchen, separate entrance, and (eventually) a separate address. They mocked up a few ideas with our original idea of building out in the garage. They incorporated all the current SF building code requirements automatically. We looked at all the different designs, and decided that we couldn’t get what we wanted with it. So, we started over from scratch, thinking of a third floor addition. Jason and John immediately showed us a ball-park budget and made sure that we knew what we were getting into. They took my dad’s concept ideas of what he wanted (morning light in the bedroom, an open airy feeling, etc.) and made it into a fabulous plan for our third floor. They had about three fundamentally different designs, met with us and we refined it from there in a series of a few meetings. They had great ideas and recommendations about picking all the products so they could incorporate it into the design early. They also have helpful spreadsheets and lists to make your checklists easier. Personally, Jason and John are respectful, great listeners, interested and easy to talk to. Construction can be a stressful process, and we were not immune to this at all. They remained kind and understanding, patient and approachable with all our questions and items that always came up.
Jason and his team at AT6 were great to work with. We renovated a single family house in San Francisco (down to the studs, full house renovation), and very much enjoyed working with Jason. Jason’s skill set (he is both an architect and a builder) is rare, and it makes for much better execution. Highly recommend!
AT6 were the quintessential professionals. I trusted them, their workers and their judgement. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I would absolutely recommend them. I was most satisfied with being able to trust their judgement and design sensibilities. I was also satisfied with their ability to bring me in at the right time and the right level of decisions
Jason and the AT6 design team have been the fantastic creative team behind the complete interior and exterior renovation of our home. We’ve worked with Jason for 10+ years and he’s truly transformed our house into everything we envisioned (and more). Since he was a contractor prior to becoming an architect, he balances creativity and practicality into his designs in a way that few others can. And his design capabilities are endless given he designed our home renovation as well as our recent backyard update. On top being a great design/build team, Jason and his team are extremely responsive and a pleasure to work with. They work with your style to create a variety of options for projects and adapt designs based on feedback and their their wealth of experience. I highly recommend working with Jason and his team on any renovation or new construction projects as we could not be happier with how they transformed our home!
We have done two large remodel projects with Jason and the AT6 team and I could not be more pleased. His design sense and communication are second to none. I have used other contractors and I hope never to do so again. His costs are accurate and fair. He has a great sense of what things will cost and whether your budget will get you what you are hoping to have. Both projects were on time and on budget. There is nothing secretive with Jason. He can explain the work to a non construction person, he is available when we needed him for questions and his follow through is bar none. Both homes we remodeled with him came out lovely and we get compliments all the time. And they have held up over time with no issues. I have zero reservations about recommending him. You will be pleased with the process AND the results.
Jason is an exceptionally talented designer who pays extraordinary attention to detail. Regarding dealing with the labyrinthine City bureaucracy, Jason was able, on a secondary egress issue, to accomplish what three other architects told us wasn’t possible. After living in our house for three years we wouldn’t change a thing -- the highest compliment I can give.
We had Jason and his team complete a substantial remodel, including adding a second story and an addition to a guest house. His team was easy to work with, very communicative, and we have been so pleased with the results!
AT6 has completed a substantial renovation including both design and building on our home in Marin. We are delighted with the results and the process. Jason Langkammerer developed a wonderful design that fulfilled our needs. This was a reiterative process with the plans evolving as we assessed goals. The building phase had delays because of supply chain problems, but the builder was able to accommodate and keep the project moving. The physical results are of high quality, actually outstanding. Most important is the wonderful culture of AT6. We had great confidence in Jason and all of the others involved in the project. They were responsive to us and understanding of the unavoidable difficulties that we lived through during the renovation.
Jason and his team did a terrific job on an extensive remodel project of our flat. Jason has great taste and a good sense of “bang for the buck”. I found I could trust his judgment. People really loved how it all turned out - Curbed SF even chose to feature it on their website! The AT6 people do high quality work and are a pleasure to deal with and we would not hesitate to work with them again.
We worked with AT6 to remodel our downstairs, including a bathroom and a bedroom. They were very well organized, prompt in communication, and the project finished on time to the original timeline. The final remodel is beautiful and everything we wanted.

When we started on our remodel, we were really attracted to the idea of design-build and having one firm be all-in through the process so it would be less stressful for us. We looked at a couple of design-build companies, and AT6 hit the sweet spot of really high-quality work without being outrageously priced. AT6’s design opened up and reorganized rooms so that they make more sense spatially than what we had. Everything is lighter, flows better, and the house feels much more cohesive. We were definitely surprised at how uncomplicated the process was. With AT6’s phenomenal communication, management, and onsite direction, the project was done on time and within budget, which you almost never hear. We’ve been so happy with the outcome. We constantly sing AT6’s praises and have sent many people their way. Their communication and work were so spot-on. I think we got more than we paid for!
